Happy New Year!

The slow start to the neemo’s room. Miss Seijikat sent the Neemos a huset from Ikea this week. It’s a cute little set that comes with a couch, shelf, chair and table. Even though all of the pieces are adorable, I have to say that the shelf is my favorite thing in the set. After giving it to the boys, Yuuta and Kouta had no trouble fill it up at all. I’m excited to get a room put together for them.

Bring the doll community together, the lovely Littlebearries over at Majokko shop has start a new monthly photo challenge called the Adventurer’s Club. Each month she’ll be announcing a theme and it’s everyone’s job to take that theme and photograph their interpretation of it. All dolls are welcome and anyone can participate. This months theme was “weather”. I decided to make this both my weekly challenge as well as Majokko Shop’s monthly.

I wasn’t quite sure what to do at first. We had gotten a bit of snow in Baltimore but by the time I found out about the challenge most of it was solid ice (plus the neemo’s lack pants… And them running around in the snow in just shorts looks painful). So I went with the idea “what would Yuuta and Kouta do if they were stuck inside on a cold winter evening?!”. Why, spend some quality time relaxing under the kotatsu of course. (It’s a mini story… I could not decide on just one photo!)

Teeny Kuma Scarf

While watching a little Spirited Away last night this little project started to happen. Again I was in one of those weird “I want to knit some thing insanely silly” moods. Grabbing some Shetland webbing and some 1mm sized needles this is what came out.

This was how far I got after watching the movie. A semi mindless knit but those teeny legs were killer.

For those not familiar with the neemo dolls this photo was taken to show the size of the scarf. I can’t decide if it’s teddy enough or a bit too rodent. The Mr thinks it’s the ears while I think it’s the eyes. Either way this is just a prototype and a simple fix. I really want to knit these in all sizes now.

Azone announced on their twitter that the 16th was officially Yuuta’s birthday. So to all those little Yuutas out there, Happy Birthday!

Mittens #2 Shirokuma mitts in SD13 size.

The idea is totally not mine. They were inspired by a piece knitted by an artist on etsy who does human scale knits (the link to this artist will be coming soon…I have seemed to have lost it). A photo of her piece was spotted on tumblr. My slight obsession to a certain anime and manga told me they needed to be made to doll scale. They turned out cuter than I had expected. I’m not quite sure who will be wearing these but they won’t go to waste.

So I apologize for the random Japanese found on the blog. The Mr and I have been studying Japanese for a few years now. We have a wonderful instructor who has been working with us but I feel like I have hit that stage where I’m stuck and not making much progress. So this year I promised myself that I would try extra hard. So one of the things is to use the language as much as we can everyday even for the little silly things like blog post titles. I’m also in the process of translating the manga shown above with help from Yoko-san (Omg, so challenging!!!).

majokko shop giveaway

Littlebearries over at The Majokko Shop is having one of the cutest giveaways at the moment. Because this year is her web site’s 2nd year anniversary and the fact that she was lucky enough to get several pairs of the Azone Gashapon Machine exclusive pantie packs, she is randomly giving away a few pairs for free! You can only get these in the gashapon machines at Azone stores in Japan. I so want a set for my silly pair. (Make sure to click the image above to go directly to the giveaway)

Happy Belated Holidays and Happy New Years

I had made a post over on the doll blog yesterday but thought I would post here as well. I hope everyone a wonderful holiday. The Mr and I had a lovely time and like every year I was given a nice long break. I got to spend time with my family, including my sister who was visiting from GA and ate way too much yummy food (I honestly do not think I ever heard my stomach rumble the entire time I was on vacation)

I thought that 2013 was good to me for the most part. I was able to design and knit some more detailed doll pieces, wrote my first pattern that was to be knitted by others…. And not a bunch of number and measurements. Actual instructions to follow (even made a little zine for it). Two of my own doll knits even won first and second place in the dolls and bears category at the MD Sheep and Wool festival. So I think it was a pretty exciting year.

I have a ton planned for this new year so I am excited. I think I can do it as long as I can keep away from the internet and other distractions. I realized that the big difference between me and the incredible people I admire and watch is that they don’t waste time… So I’m going to work on keeping busy.

The picture above… These little Fuchiko-sans are working very hard to make sure I’m enjoying my holiday coffee xmas morning. I really can not explain what they are other than I had been seeing loads of these little girls on Instagram for the past few months. Curiosity got the better of me so I looked them up. They are コップのフチ子, koppu no fuchiko or “Fuchiko on the edge of a cup”. The Mr must have sensed my interested because seven of these little ladies from the coffee series were in my stocking xmas day. I think their main purpose is to put a smile on your face… Or at least that is what they did to me.

And now I leave you with P-Chan ending 2013 with a bang….
He really knows how to party.
